Onsdag kveld gikk NME Awards av stabelen, prisutdelinga som er en av de viktigste i Storbritannia, ved siden av Brit Awards som er deres svar på Spellemannprisen.

Kveldens store vinnere ble Florence Welch fra Florence & the Machine og The Rolling Stones, som begge var alene om å få to priser. Welch vant for «beste soloprestasjon», selv om hun samarbeider med flere andre om musikken – og beste «dance-floor anthem» for Sweet Nothing. The Rolling Stones fikk prisene for beste liveband og beste musikkfilm.
I takketalen sa Florence Welch at hun ikke hadde forventa å vinne «solo»-prisen siden hun «ikke var sikker» på om hun er en soloartist eller ikke. Hun benytta imidlertid anledningen til å takke resten av bandet, og beskrev sin musikk som veldig «basert på samarbeid».
The Killers vant prisen for beste internasjonale band, mens Biffy Clyro ble kåra til beste britiske band. Beste nykommer ble Palma Violets, mens One Direction fikk den mindre flaterende «Worst Band»-prisen og Harry Styles ble utpekt til «Villain of the Year».

– Hold øynene åpne
Etter at Rolling Stones spilte en miniturné i Storbritannia og USA i fjor har det gått spekulasjoner om hvorvidt de skal ut på en ny turné.
– Hold øynene åpne, for jeg har lyst til å spille (flere konserter) og jeg vet at gutta vil det også, sa gitarist Ronnie Wood til Reuters under onsdagens galla.

I tillegg fortalte Wood at han håpet på å få spille på Glastonbury.
– Jeg vil virkelig gjerne det, men jeg aner ikke ennå … jeg bare ser fram til … jeg vet vi var beste liveband, så jeg bare håper vi får det, sa han.
